Detox your Home & You:

Your own home could be a chemical mix of toxins infiltrating your body, here are some selected tips for clearing chemicals from your home & you..

1. Locate your nearest organic greengrocer, organic market and organic butcher. Spend some time reviewing their product range and replacing the non organic items that you normally purchase. Fruit, vegetables, meat, dairy, coffee, cereals, tea and sugar should all be able to be relplaced with organic items.

2. If there are no organic items on the shelves of your favorite stores, contact the store manager and request they stock these lines. Store managers will never be aware of demand if no one asks.

3. Wash fruit and vegetables in a solution of vinegar and water prior to cooking or eating.

4. Always check the ingredients of what you buy, avoid products with unkown code numbers, ingredients or products that have 'derived from..' as an ingredient.

5. Avoid commericially refined and processed foods, Also look for products that are 'GM Free'(free of genetically modified ingredients).

6. Avoid microwaving food, it has been claimed that microwaving food destorys it's nutritional value also that some containers may leech toxins into the food.

7. Filter your water to reduce exposure to heavy metals, chlorine and waterbourne toxins.

8. Reduce the cleaning chemicals you use in your home by converting to natural products. Bi carb of Soda, lemon juice, salt and vinegar makes a great general cleaner.

9. Quality essential oils, vanilla essence and flowers make great natural room deodorisers.

10. Ensure there is plenty of fresh air and that your home is airated. Plants can be a cheap and effective way to clean indoor air along with creating an appeasing enviroment.

11. Look for natural soaps, hair shampoos and personal products. Look for products made from organic coconut oils and essentail oils. You can even try making your own!

12. When buying furnishing and accessories for your home, will they give of toxic fumes? Look for products made from natural and renewable sources.
